Getting into the Routines

We will discuss and build some key Reading Apprenticeship routines for our classroom use.  During the work session of the in-service, we will use a current classroom text and build a Curriculum Embedded Reading Assessment. These will be posted online and shared. This will be given as both a pre-test and later as a post test. We will work together to build and share classroom samples of our Reading Apprenticeship work.

Book Club

We will meet initially to receive our texts, Think Like a Freak, and then follow up with Canvas discussions online using the Reading Apprenticeship routines we learned about in the fall. We will share more classroom Reading Apprenticeship routines. (Books will be provided free to participants in this strand.)

We will be asking you to participate in the Metacognition and Mindfulness Conference on March 11 and 12.

Classroom Assessment

We will take our classroom curriculum and assessment tools and look at them across the three quarters and discuss what these tell us about our classroom practices, how to change them to be more effective for next year. We will share classroom samplings of our data collection.
