Introduction

Dear Medical Assistant Student,

This course will be co-taught by Trisha Foreman and Ashley Savage. We have put a lot of thought into choosing the best materials to help you succeed, and I want to tell you about them so you can be prepared when class starts.

We do not have a required textbook. We will be using a math packet/workbook designed specific for for the medical assisting profession and this class.

The math packet/workbook is designed for all levels of learners. Its features promote success in reviewing and learning math: sequential building of basic skills, application of these skills, mnemonic devices to build memory, combined applications, and self-tests.

This course will mimic a Hybrid course; much of the learning, assignments and tests will be done on Canvas and at your own pace. You WILL be required to complete assignment by the posted due date, but you are allowed to complete assignments and submit assignments early.

We will conduct lectures and study sessions on a schedule. If you are working ahead and are struggling with a particular subject, you must wait to discuss that topic during the scheduled week.

You will be required to complete daily homework and weekly tests. The test are open and can be taken on your own, however the mid-term and final is proctored. The quizzes are timed and you will only be allowed one attempt.

If you score below a 85% on your homework or fail any quiz you will be required to attend lecture until you can maintain passing grades.
