b2s - Bridge to Success Club

A new approved RTC's club has been formed with some of my students. These students are very interested in helping low-income students to pursue their dreams. I'm fortunate to be able to work with them as an advisor and I know their mission, vision and goals are very ambitious but the altruistic motives are worth trying.

The club will meet every other Friday from 6:30 to 8:30PM in room J-305.

 

Mission

Our mission is to promote poverty alleviation, through self-sufficiency and financial independence. b2s will find connections with non-profit organizations that are willing to help those in need.

Vision

b2s will be the net that supports students finding ways to pay for basic needs. With the main purpose of decreasing the number of students dropping off from school due to financial hardship.

Values

Diversity: We respect and value cultural differences! Following the recent presidential election, new executive orders and everything that has been distributed through the media, we realized that immigrants have become a target and those facts and events have caused: an increase of fear, anxiety and discouragement. Now, more than ever before, we need to be united.

b2s is an inclusive club and we welcome everyone!

We know and realize that Renton Technical College is making efforts to support our cultural differences and that immigrants feel welcomed but it is an effort that needs to continue and to be supported at all levels, including the students.

The members of b2s club focus on the strengths that our differences in race, sexual/identity orientation, language and different abilities bring to the table. We all have a voice, vote and the deserved respect that all human beings should have.

Knowledge is universal: All humans have the right to education.

Good citizenship: Good citizens help people who cannot always help themselves.
