SAMPLE COMMENTS for a first-year Candidate:
Member 1: ________ demonstrates a passion for his craft as well as having better than average organization skills. A definite planner and thinker of the teaching process. The portfolio provides samples of practice tests he has developed for students to better grasp the material. ______ has picked up using CANVAS immediately and quickly added many of its features into his daily lesson plans. I see solid teaching skills that just need some polishing and look forward to seeing him grow into his position as he takes full ownership of his program and integrates his improvements.
Member 2: _________ is getting on his feet, getting into the teaching mode at a fast pace. I look forward to seeing his development as an RTC teacher with PD in Reading Apprenticeship and Universal Design for Learning. I think those skills will be invaluable as he moves forward.
It is great to see _______'s enthusiasm; he was able to jump in mid-year into a program and not only keep the momentum going, but has been able to better organize the materials in Canvas to keep the class on track and instill confidence in his students. I know he has spent a lot of extra time getting going this first year, and I think his "growth mindset" for himself is having a positive effect on his students as well.
Member 3: _________ is an extremely organized person...this will serve him well as he begins his teaching career! Some challenges I see lying ahead include working with under-prepared students and a students who are learning in a second language. I hope he has a chance to observe some other faculty with similar classes, so he can pick up some tips.
_______ continues to grow. His delivery is fitting, reviewing tests and quizzes with power point, lesson plans on the desktop to keep him on point and schedule... answering questions as he goes, asking questions to individuals to assure participation. He appears knowledgeable in the subject matter.
Member 4 : This candidate is a hard worker and enthusiastic about his subject. As he moves forward, our committee intends to help him find opportunities to gain more classroom management skills so that every student has a chance to be actively involved in the learning process. With large classes, some of the students tend to get overlooked.
_____ has put together modules in Canvas that allow students to easily find their lessons, and he invites students to contact him with questions any time. He has a focus on student success, and his students appreciate this. His classroom demeanor is friendly and professional. As he gains more skills with teaching strategies, his classroom will become even more dynamic.
