SAMPLE COMMENTS for a second-year Candidate:

Member 1:

I see substantial improvement in his organizational tools like the syllabi. The candidate has worked to improve incoming student enrollment; this is not an easy task. He is willing to improve his craft and has been working with committees on campus and is finding new resources and ways of connecting with other faculty. He makes good use of campus resources such as the library for curriculum support and the student Success Center to help work with student needs.

Member 2

_______ has been learning about the reading Apprenticeship framework and how to help scaffold his stuent to become disciplinary experts in reading the material assigned in the program. I am delighted to see the results of his training in his curriculum. During an observation, I saw material being presented in a variety of ways for this students. His self-reflection clearly outlines the activities he has been engaged in to develop himself as an educator.

Member 3

____________ has done a great job to structure his physical space as a student-centered area for learning. This really reflects his focus on collaboration and cooprative learning in his classroom. His calm demeanor allows students to share ideas and learn in a supportive environment.   I know he has observed two other teachers (one from his program, one from another area)  and has incorporated several effective teaching ideas from them. This willingness to learn from others is something that is reflected in his overall attitude, wtih both colleagues and students.

Member 4

_______ has worked well with his Program Advisory Board to ensure curriculum and structural changes to meet industry needs. He mentors lifelong learning by exploring ideas along with this students, and allowing them to make mistakes along the way.  He uses Canvas for topic discussions that continue outside the classroom, which allows all voices to be included.  He encourages his non-native speakers to use quizlet flashcards to constantly improve their pronunciation of industry terms. He has gotten to know more about where his students are from, and the students have helped to create a bulletin board that reflects their diversity.
