SAMPLE COMMENTS for a third-year Candidate:

Member 1:

This tenure portfolio portrays the candidate's comprehensive efforts to achieve teaching excellence, develop professionally, master technology tools, and engage in thoughtful self-reflection.  Highlights include visual images of teaching and learning as well as specific actions steps taken to make improvements, linking first year to recommendations to second year action and then reflection on steps to further excel next year.

I am inspired by _________'s passion for her work, her compassion for others, and her desire to continuously learn and improve. For example, the candidate has taken advantage of several professional opportunities such as ____________ and ________________.   She has essentially created a program within our program, both by developing curriculum and by collaborating with external partners to ensure students have access to extensive non-academic support.  I look forward to seeing _________continue to grow throughout the third year of the tenure process.  It is with tremendous enthusiasm that I support _________'s advancement.

This faculty has embraced RTC's recent transition to using Canvas for tenure and her portfolio sets the bar high.  ___________'s tenure portfolio showcases her impressive scope of community building, collaboration, best practices in the classroom and professional development.

In her report _________ not only gives us a view into her incredible work with her students and the campus, but also demonstrates her mastery of Canvas course design and pedagogical best practices.  For example:

  • Innovating an easy-to-navigate, user friendly Canvas design for our newly implemented use of Canvas as a platform for tenure portfolios and reports.
  • Presenting pictures of her students projects in a professional, visually appealing way with an advanced use of tables.
  • Creating and uploading visually appealing infographics that "chunk" information and a variety of tools to serve her students better such as the on-line meeting scheduler and Quizlet.

_________’s portfolio is an accurate reflection of the progress she is making in achieving her goals to enrich the classroom experience and develop tools and strategies to support student achievement.

Many of ________'s students face difficult personal, political, and social obstacles to success, but _________ makes their classroom experience a place of opportunity and hope. Her dynamic curriculum engages students and allows individuals to explore and develop their interests in creative, meaningful ways. When I observed the classroom, I noticed active use of UDL and RA principles her reach her diverse population. This has been a growth area for the candidate.

__________ has approached her tenure with meaningful purpose and doesn't deviate from her goals. She is an exemplary instructor and deserves to continue forward in the tenure process.Her portfolio reflects her progress each year.

During the past year, I have found _________to be an asset to RTC in so many ways.  She shows passion for teaching and for her students. She continues to be creative and innovative in her classroom, while motivating and inspiring student’s to be their best and further their education. She has built a rapport with her student’s that is undeniable. Her classroom reflects a candidate who has spend many hours developing curriculum, preparing, and organizing not only her classroom but her instructional framework. ______ is kind, compassionate, creative and a natural leader. I look forward to working with _______ as a an active colleague in our RTC community.
