Legal Resources

An undocumented student might want to take their own steps to remain informed and connected. The following are key resources:

• Northwest Immigrant Rights Project: Links to an external site. Promotes justice by defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education.
• American Civil Liberties Union Links to an external site.: Is a nonprofit organization whose stated mission is "to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." 
• Informed Immigrant: Provides undocumented immigrants with the knowledge and resources they need to feel prepared in our unpredictable political and enforcement environment. 
• Colectiva Legal del Pueblo Links to an external site.: Builds community power for migrant justice through legal services, advocacy, and education.
• Kids in Need of Defense Links to an external site.(KIND): Protects unaccompanied children who enter the US immigration system alone to ensure that no child appears in court without an attorney.
• KCBA - King Country Bar Association Links to an external site. (Lawyer referral services): works with over 1400 volunteer attorneys, paralegals, law students, and community members to provide free legal assistance for low-income King County residents. 
• National Immigration Center: Defends and advances the rights and opportunities of low-income immigrants.

• American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Links to an external site.: Is the national association of immigration lawyers established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.
