Hundreds of students come to Renton Technical College every year to learn English. We have classes for basic to advanced English.

It is easy! Click on the link to complete the intake form Links to an external site.. This asks for your personal details and contact information. You will only need 5 minutes to finish the form. You can change the language of the form at the top right.

Information About Our English Classes
ESL is an abbreviation for English as a Second Language. Sometimes you see ELA, which means English Language Acquisition. These are two terms for programs that help you learn English.
Who can take English classes?
You must be at least 16 years old. We have students from many different countries and students who speak many different languages. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning English.
What English classes are available?
We have four levels of English classes: Basic, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. We meet with you and learn more about your current English skills, so we can recommend the best level for your first classes.
Our teachers help you to read, write, understand, and speak American English.
What time are classes?
English classes are available at several different times:
- mornings, between 9 A.M. and 12 P.M.
- afternoons, between 12 P.M. and 2 P.M.
- evenings, between 6 P.M. and 9 P.M.
Classes have some meetings on campus and some meetings online.
How much do I pay for classes?
The fee is only $25.
We know that some students do not have money to pay for classes. We can help you.
When can I start?
Our English programs are very popular. Sometimes, students have to wait a few months before they can enroll in classes.
Please complete our intake form Links to an external site. as soon as possible. This is the first step in the enrollment process.
- We will help you with the second step, to apply for admission. This creates your official record as a student at our college.
- The third step is placement. You come to the college campus and demonstrate your skills with the English language. Placement helps us recommend the right English classes for you.
- The fourth step happens with a college advisor. This person is an expert in our English language program and explains your placement results. They also help you register for classes.
- Then you are ready for the fifth and final step! You are an official college student with classes!
