When can I start? Fall (September), Winter (January), Spring (April), or Summer (July)
How long is the program? 6 quarters (up to 22 months) 90 total credits full-time or 9 quarters (up to 27 months) of equal credit value.
When do classes meet? Not all classes are offered every quarter and individual class times vary. FLEX, in-person, hybrid, and online options are available.
The Associate in Business DTA/MRP is a special transfer degree that prepares you for a four-year bachelor (or baccalaureate) degree in accounting, business administration, management, marketing, and related field. This degree includes classes in mathematics, accounting, lab science, humanities, and social sciences that you need to transfer to a university. You should research the admission and graduation requirements of your target university to see if there are any specific classes that you need to take.
The Business DTA/MRP is accepted by all major public and private universities in Washington (see the Transfer Destinations tab below), but this does not mean that you can enroll automatically in a baccalaureate business program. Admission to business programs is competitive, which means that you must apply and be accepted. How can you prepare?
- Consult the Business DTA/MRP Advising Notes Download Advising Notes Download Advising Notesfor recommendations based on transfer destinations.
- Talk to an advisor or instructor to determine the course sequence that works best for you, including pathways for part-time enrollment.
- Make a plan for your transfer application. You may need to apply to universities several months before you graduate from RTC.
- Pay attention to class prerequisites! There are three accounting classes, and you also need three mathematics classes.
- Be aware of which required classes are offered during each quarter:
- ACCT& 201 is offered fall and winter. ACCT& 202 is offered winter and spring. ACCT& 203 is offered fall and spring.
- BUS& 201 is offered every quarter, but most students take it winter or summer quarter.
- ECON& 201 is offered fall and spring. ECON& 202 is offered winter and sometimes summer.
- All MATH& classes are offered every quarter, including summer.
- Strongly consider taking the recommended humanities and social science classes in the sequences below. These classes were chosen because they automatically transfer as distribution credit to most universities.
