General Overview
When can I start? Fall (September), Winter (January), or Spring (April)
How long is the program? 2-3 quarters (6-9 months) for 23 credits
- Some financial aid programs do not support this program because it is so short. Talk to an adviser about different ways to pay for school.
When do classes meet? Classes have a variety of options, meeting days and times.
You will learn electrical theory and related math so you can start to diagnose and solve electrical problems in industrial settings. Graduates of this program are prepared for entry-level or trainee positions as maintenance electricians or helpers.
What is the average salary?
$47,500 annually Links to an external site. in the Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma area. Most maintenance and repair helpers earn at least $32,810; there is a wide salary range. As you gain experience and promotions you will earn more.

Overall Materials Needed:
- Access to a functioning laptop or computer (you may use computers on the RTC campus)
- Working internet connection
- Calculator ($15)
- Textbooks and software (approximately $425)
Grade or GPA Requirements: To graduate, you must earn a minimum 1.0 grade in each class and have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.

If you rent a textbook, make sure you return it by the deadline. If you purchase a textbook, you can sell it back to the RTC bookstore -- but make sure that you won't need the book again for classes in the future!
