General Overview

When can I start? Fall (September), Winter (January)

  • 3 to 4 quarters (9-12 months) based on credit load taken with 45-48 credits for the certificate
  • 6 quarters (up to 22 months) with 90 credits for the AAS degree

When do classes meet? Some classes are online, but you may have labs, Monday through Thursday between 8 A.M. and 12 P.M.

Mechatronics specialists work on industrial machines. They maintain and repair everything from basic electrical systems to computerized controls, motors, hydraulics, and robotic equipment.

Graduates work at Boeing, Amazon, and other manufacturing companies in the Seattle area. You may see job titles like robotics technician and industrial maintenance technician in addition to mechatronic technician.

What is the average salary?

$63,620 annually Links to an external site. in the Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma area. Most mechatronics technicians earn at least $50,330; there is a wide salary range.

Overall Materials Needed:

  1. Access to a functioning laptop or computer (you may use computers in the RTC Library or Learning Resource Center)

Minimum grades or GPA to graduate

You need a 1.0 or better in each class and an overall or cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher to graduate.

If you rent a textbook, make sure you return it by the deadline. If you purchase a textbook, you can sell it back to the RTC bookstore -- but make sure that you won't need the book again for classes in the future!
