About this Course

Why am I in this course? Because we want you to succeed. 

This course will help you feel comfortable in Canvas and studying online so that you are RTC Ready when school starts.  

  • This course is free!
  • It is a resource to help you be a successful Online, Hybrid, or FLEX student. 
  • Depending on your background, it will take you one to three hours to complete. (You can do it all at once or leave and click on Modules when you  come back.

Course Outcomes: What you will take away 

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

    1. Know how to log on to Canvas.
    2. Distinguish between online, hybrid and classroom courses.
    3. Explain how to approach being an online student, and how it differs from the classroom.
    4. Demonstrate how to post to a discussion, submit an assignment, submit a file, and take quizzes in Canvas.
    5. Identify Canvas terminology and what it means. 
    6. Be familiar with tools that may be used in your courses.
    7. Be familiar with online tools for success
    8. Feel more confident with computer skills

Tips for Success

To help in the completion of this workshop, make sure to....,

  • Translate anything you don't understand by right-clicking on the page or using Google translate.
  • Look at the information on each page without rushing. 
  • Update your Canvas account so that you get all notifications easily.
  • If you get confused, take a break and come back.

There are no grades, but you can earn two badges:

  • Canvas Confident! Badge: Completion of "Learn Canvas" section
  • RTC Ready! Badge: Completion of "Learn about RTC and Student Success" section
