General Education for BAS Degrees in IT
The BAS in Application Development and the BAS in Network Engineering both require 60 quarter credits of general education.
You may have completed some or all of the General Education requirements with your previous associate degree, bachelor degree, or college experience. We accept a wide range of classes, even subjects that are not in the RTC catalog.
All of the classes listed below are 5 credits.
Here are the requirements for your degree:
- 10 credits of communication
- ENGL& 101 (required for admission to your BAS program)
- ENGL& 102 or ENGL& 235 or another writing class with ENGL& 101 as the prerequisite
- 10 credits of humanities
- art, communication studies, dance, drama, film, history, humanities, literature, music, philosophy, speech, world languages
- 5 credits of transfer mathematics
- finite math, college algebra, statistics, precalculus, calculus
- 10 credits of social science
- anthropology, selected business classes, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, social work, sociology
- 10 credits of natural science
- astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry, environmental science, geology, marine biology, nutrition, physics
- 15 additional credits from any General Education area
History classes (HIST and HIST&) may count for either humanities or social science credit.
