Placement in General Education English and Math

Information Page Placement for General Education English and Math

Some General Education classes in English and mathematics have special enrollment permissions for students who don't have the traditional course prerequisites. We call this placement.

We want you to be successful in your General Education classes. We also know that you have many ways to demonstrate that you are ready for the challenge of transfer-level writing and mathematics. Therefore, you can use high school grades, standardized exam scores, and other measures for placement into ENGL&101 and six different math classes.

You can use an unofficial transcript or score report to request placement. Please talk with an entry or academic adviser about your plans, so we can make sure that ctcLink has the correct information and you have a smooth registration process.

Note: RTC participates in placement reciprocity. This means that you can use English or math placement from another Washington two-year college to enroll in RTC classes. We may be able to see your placement records on an unofficial transcript or other part of your ctcLink academic record.
