Sometimes, you want more information before you choose a program, or you would like to have additional support. RTC offers a low-cost options to explore programs: Bridge classes. We have exploration Bridge classes as well as a support Bridge class.
Exploration Bridge Classes
What is an exploration Bridge class? Exploration Bridge classes introduce you to different areas of study and career training programs. They can help you with admissions requirements and skills needed for success in your first quarter and beyond.
When are exploration Bridge classes offered? They are available every fall, winter, and spring.
Who can enroll in an exploration Bridge class? Anyone!
How much does an exploration Bridge class cost? $25
What exploration Bridge classes are available? Currently, we have Bridge classes for three areas of study.
CCP 28, Bridge to Transportation
This course will prepare students for RTC's Transportation Technology programs: Automotive Technology and Autobody Repair & Refinishing. It will cover the reading, writing, and math skills needed to succeed in Transportation Technology programs. Additionally, students will map out a pathway toward receiving a degree or certificate by exploring transportation related careers and identifying a program of interest.
CCP 45, Bridge to Health and Human Services
This class to will help you explore the health and human services medical programs we have here at RTC. This course will cover the following programs: Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy, Dental Assistant, and Central Service Technician. You will identify the program you are interested in and map out your path to receive a degree or certification, practice language skills that will be useful and relatable in the medical field and get connected with the medical program teachers, clinical coordinator and an advisor.
CCP 46, Bridge to Information Technology Programs
This course will prepare students for RTC's Computer Science and Cloud Network Technology programs. It will cover computer basics such as typing, using Windows, and using the internet. The course will also further develop students' reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills in the context of technology. It is designed to build confidence and expand knowledge of computers and technology.
Support Bridge Classes
What is a support Bridge class? Support Bridge classes provide intensive academic practice to prepare you for success in specific General Education classes.
When are support Bridge classes offered? They are available every quarter, including summer.
Who can enroll in a support Bridge class? Anyone!
How much does a support Bridge class cost? $25
What support Bridge classes are available? Currently, we have one support Bridge class for English.
CCP 90, Bridge to College Composition
This class prepares students for academic writing and ENGL& 101 English Composition. It covers the basics of sentence construction, text features to write well, paragraphs, summaries of texts, resumes, and memos/cover letters, and essays. The class will also further develop your ability to use text as a starting point for your writings, summaries, and analyses. It is designed to build confidence and expand knowledge of writing.
- You can take CCP 90 to refresh or strengthen your writing skills before you begin your RTC program, or
- You can take CCP 90 in the same quarter that you enroll in COMP 100 Applied Composition!
